Frequently asked questions

The short answers. For the step by step version, see how Liyasa works.

Buying

What does it cost to buy?
You pay the item price, a buyer protection fee of 6% of that price, and tracked delivery. The delivery charge is calculated by size and weight and shown at checkout before you pay. Nothing else is added.
When does the seller get my money?
Not straight away. Payments are processed by Stripe, and your money is held from checkout until either you confirm the item arrived as described, or 72 hours pass after delivery is recorded, whichever comes first.
What if my item never turns up, or is not as described?
Email us at hello@liyasa.co.uk before the 72 hour window closes and we will pause the payout whilst we look into it. Photographs help.
Can I return something because it does not suit me?
No. Sellers here are private individuals rather than traders, so the statutory cancellation rights that apply to shops do not usually apply. Buyer protection covers items that do not arrive or that are significantly not as described. The full detail is in our terms of service.
Is delivery insured?
Yes. Every parcel is sent tracked and insured. Liyasa funds that cover out of the buyer protection fee, so it is never deducted from the seller.
Where does Liyasa deliver?
Across the UK, with tracked delivery on every order. The charge is calculated by the size and weight of the parcel and shown at checkout before you pay, and we pass it to the courier at cost.
How do I know a seller is genuine?
Sellers have to give their payout details, which Stripe verifies, before anything of theirs can be listed, so nobody is trading anonymously. More to the point, the money is not released until you have your item, so a seller who does not send it never receives it. If something looks wrong, email hello@liyasa.co.uk and we will pause the payout.
Can I cancel an order after placing it?
There is no self-serve cancel button, so email us at hello@liyasa.co.uk as soon as you can and we will do what we can before the seller posts. Once an item is on its way, buyer protection covers parcels that do not arrive or are significantly not as described, but not a change of mind.
How do I know what size something is?
South Asian sizing varies a lot between brands, and plenty of occasion wear has been tailored to its first owner, so the label is only a starting point. We ask sellers to include measurements in the description. If they are missing, ask before you buy.

Selling

What does it cost to sell?
Nothing to list, and there is no subscription. You pay a completion fee only when an item actually sells, and it comes out of your payout. You do need your payout details in place before you can list, which takes about five minutes and is a one-off.
How much is the completion fee?
It is tiered by sale price: £1.50 under £100, £5 from £100 to £300, £10 from £300 to £800, and £20 above £800.
Do I pay for postage or insurance?
No. The buyer pays for tracked delivery at checkout and we pay the courier the same amount, so we do not mark it up. Insurance cover is funded by Liyasa, never taken out of your payout.
Do I need anything before I can list?
Yes, your payout details. Before you can list, we need them so buyers can pay you. It takes about five minutes and you only need to do it once. Payments are processed by Stripe, which collects your identity and bank details securely, and we never see them. You can do it from payout settings whenever suits, and the first time you go to list an item we will take you there.
How do I get paid?
Into the bank account you gave when you set up your payout details. Your money is released once the buyer confirms receipt, or automatically 72 hours after delivery.
What can I not list?
Counterfeits, stolen goods, and anything unsafe or unhygienic. List only items you own and are entitled to sell, describe faults honestly, and use your own photographs of the actual item.
How should I price my item?
Look at what comparable pieces are listed for, then be honest about condition. Remember the completion fee steps up at £100, £300 and £800, so a price just over one of those lines earns you less than a price just under it. The buyer also sees 6% buyer protection and tracked delivery added on top.
How long do I have to post after a sale?
Within three days. We send you a prepaid tracked label as soon as the item sells, so it is a case of packing it and dropping it off. Posting promptly is also how you get paid sooner, because the clock on the buyer confirming only starts once the parcel is moving.
What condition should I list something as?
There are five options, and being straight about it saves everyone a dispute later.
  • New with tags. Never worn, original tags still attached.
  • New without tags. Never worn, but the tags have gone. Plenty of occasion wear is bought, kept for the day and never actually worn.
  • Excellent. Worn once or twice, no visible wear, looks as good as new.
  • Good. Worn a few times with light signs of wear that are not obvious when on.
  • Fair. Clearly worn, or with a fault such as a mark, a pull or missing beading. Photograph and describe it.
